DVR based on PI-Controlled Multi-Level Inverter with Multi-Carrier SPWM to Enhance Power Quality

There is a significant problem with the quality of the energy that is delivered by the modern power grid, and this problem has the potential to have implications for both the customers and the utility. The combination of several energy sources that are renewable, integrated smart grid systems, and major power electronics usage have led to a variety of issues with the upgrading of the power grid. Electrical interference can be produced by complicated equipment malfunctioning as a result of voltage sag and swell, current and voltage harmonics, and other factors. Due to interference from other components in the system, these devices may see oscillations in their input voltage. Other components of the system may be the source of these voltage swings. As a result, in the modern period, which is characterized by a proliferation of fragile and costly electronic devices, it is necessary to advance an extreme level of power quality in order to guarantee the stable and secure functioning of the power system. This is because for improving power quality is the only way to keep up with the proliferation of these gadgets. Within the Distribution Flexible AC Transmission System (D- FACTS), there is a piece of equipment known as the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), which has a large potential for wider application. This technology is specifically designed to address the difficulties caused by deviations from the distribution grid's standard voltage, current, or frequency. The goal of injecting voltages into the distribution line is to provide a constant load voltage while preserving the voltage profile. MATLAB/Simulink was utilized to conduct the simulations, which aimed to illustrate the efficacy of the proposed DVR based method in mitigating harmonic voltage distortion.
