Performance Improvement of a Grid Connected PV Inverter with Optimal Controllers

Due to its various advantages, solar photovoltaic energy has gained widespread attention in the electrical energy generation industry. It provides over half of the world’s electrical needs and reduces reliance on fossil fuels by around a third. The process of connecting a PV system to the electrical network involves the use of a inverter system. The control of the inverter is reported as the complex system and the performance. Hence in this paper optimal control of inverter is proposed to improve the system performance. A TLBO algorithm is used to optimize the control system of inverter. A comparison is performed between PSO and TLBO optimal controllers. Results reveal that the TLBO based optimal controller exhibited the improved performance.
