Mixed Operation in Overlay Networks: Performance Assessment

Secondary sources (SSs) assist primary sources (PSs) as a prize for accessing primary frequency bands for communication in overlay networks, significantly ameliorating spectral efficiency. To further meliorate spectral efficiency, energy efficiency, and system performance, this paper proposes a mixed operation in which SSs switch cleverly between direct communication and relaying communication. The performance of the mixed operation in overlay networks is assessed extensively and thoroughly in innumerable real-world scenarios to prove the effectiveness of the proposed operation.
