Mitigating System Imbalance Using Enhanced Droop Control in Decentralized Microgrids

Power imbalance poses a significant challenge in decentralized microgrids because of the dynamic nature of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and varying load conditions. Conventional voltage droop control methods, while effective in maintaining voltage stability, may not adequately address voltage imbalances caused by unevenly distributed loads or variable generation profiles. This research investigates the implementation of enhanced voltage, power and frequency droop control strategies to mitigate voltage, power and frequency imbalances in decentralized microgrids. The study focuses on optimizing the droop control parameters and integrating supplementary control mechanisms to achieve improved voltage, power and frequency regulation and distribution among DERs. Simulation-based analysis and experimental validation will be conducted to assess the performance and effectiveness of the proposed enhanced voltage, power, and frequency droop control approach in diverse microgrid scenarios. The proposed system has balanced by droop controller within 0.1 to 0.3 sec. This finding provides valuable insights into mitigating voltage, power, and frequency imbalance challenges, enhancing microgrid stability, and ensuring reliable operation of decentralized energy systems.
