Smart Street Light Management System Using IoT for Enhanced Energy Efficiency and Control

Street lights are widely distributed across the world and consume a significant amount of electricity. Manually monitoring and controlling such a massive system is difficult. This necessitates the need to develop a smart system, which can communicate with the user while also monitoring and managing the lights. This connectivity is being established through the use of IoT. In today's culture, there is a considerable waste of electrical energy for street lights. This waste can be minimized by utilizing a wide range of actuators and sensors linked to the IoT (Internet of Things). Tis study has designed and developed a Smart Street Light Management System to overcome this issue. Light, motion, and humidity sensors are used in the proposed system to turn the lighting ON and OFF. Also, the proposed system tracks each street light's status (ON/OFF) by monitoring the electricity usage. In a developing country like India, the subject of electricity usage gains increased attention. Streetlight monitoring and control may be critical in this power consumption reduction technique. The method employed in the proposed work for remote monitoring and control of streetlights is based on wireless sensor networks and LED technology. Here, an Android app is used for log in purpose and all the user information will be stored in the database. Further, the authorized users will get a login screen to use the program on their Android mobile and turn the street light ON/OFF. In order to save energy, the IOT module is employed. The proposed streetlight controller system enables low power usage, status monitoring, and light dimmer adjustments. The proposed smart street lighting system are equipped with external light sensors, which allows to turn ON at the appropriate intensity based on the real-time field data.
