Smart IOT Based Dustbin and Waste Monitoring System

The increasing population leads to a significant generation of garbage, which requires effective waste management and disposal. Different types of waste, such as food waste, paper, plastic, metal, glass, construction waste, and hazardous materials, contribute to this issue. Developed countries have implemented various methods to address waste management, but developing nations must also take action due to the consequences associated with improper waste disposal. These consequences include unhygienic conditions, the spread of diseases, and pollution, which can negatively impact human life. To combat these problems, a smart IoT-based waste monitoring system. This system utilizes ultrasonic sensors, NodeMCU, servo motors, LCD screens, buzzers, I to C converter Module and LED bulbs to detect and display the garbage level in a dustbin. When the garbage reaches a specific threshold (around 85-90% full), the system activates a buzzer and LED bulb. It continuously sends signals and monitors the data online through ThinkSpeak. This smart waste monitoring system offers several benefits, including optimized waste collection schedules, prevention of overflowing bins, and improved resource allocation. By providing real-time monitoring and alerts, the system enhances waste management efficiency and contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment.
