An Empirical Research Towards the State of Transition from IPv4 to IPv6

In the face of the vast scale of the Internet and the substantial majority of IPv4 users, a single, immediate switch from IPv4 to IPv6 is deemed unfeasible. However, as businesses increasingly rely on the Internet for day-to-day operations, the significant advantages of IPv6 become evident when engaging with IPv4 users. Delaying the implementation of IPv6 serves little purpose, as both transitions can be independently made by individual websites and Internet service providers (ISPs). This research paper delves into the evolution of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, exploring the popular transition methods and assessing the current state of IPv6 implementation globally and in the context of Bangladesh. By conducting a comparative analysis of recent data, we have identified challenges and offered possible solutions for a seamless transition toward IPv6. As the demand for IP addresses surges and the exhaustion of IPv4 resources becomes imminent, embracing the potential of IPv6 holds the key to sustaining a connected and innovative digital world. The insights gleaned from this research may guide businesses and stakeholders in navigating the path to IPv6 integration.
