A Miniaturized Polarization Independent Transparent FSS for Dual-Band Applications

This paper presents a miniaturized Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) tailored for dual-band wireless applications. The design comprises multiple C-shaped geometries, which collectively generate a dual-band response achieved by utilizing top and bottom mirror geometry techniques. The proposed structure’s dimensions measure 9 mm $\times$ 9 mm. This singlelayer FSS establishes two pass-bands at 5.82 GHz and 8.96 GHz, each characterized by bandwidths of 1.26 GHz and 1.62 GHz, respectively. The pass-band frequencies of the FSS design can be controlled independently by modifying a singular parameter of the unit cell. The dual-band pass FSS, designed using miniaturized elements, also showcases remarkable resonance stability for varying polarizations and incident angles. The transparent and compact nature of this FSS design renders it applicable across a diverse spectrum of dual-band pass wireless scenarios.
