Virtual Tour Application as A Tourism Information Media Using Multimedia Development Life Cycle

This study focuses on developing a comprehensive web-based virtual tour application named Tegal Tourism Application that has a role as information media of tourism in Tegal Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. Despite its diverse attractions and geographical benefits, the region’s tourism sector is under-promoted due to limited digital technology utilization. The research uses Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) methodology. The novelty of this study was the development of a virtual tour website which additionally provided a website profile, social media information, contact of the tourist destination operator, and reviews that can be used as consideration for other tourists. Another uniqueness is that the information on the virtual exploration feature is dynamic, allowing tourist attraction operators to make changes as needed. Furthermore, it is envisaged that the Tegal Tourism Application would serve as a platform for sharing information about tourism sites in the Tegal Regency, generating direct public interest in visiting tourism spots. The results of the black box testing revealed that the system was effectively built in accordance with the scenario proposed, with three testing roles visitor, tourist attraction operator, and super admin. The average Likert scale poll revealed that 85.86% of 40 respondents, which included visitors, tourist attraction operators, and super admin.
