Research on Integrated Thermal Management System of Hybrid Electric Vehicle based on Logical Threshold Method

A thermal management system for hybrid vehicles based on heat pump air conditioning is developed to address the problem of unsatisfactory power battery temperature control by the thermal management system of hybrid vehicles. First, the integrated thermal management system for hybrid vehicles was designed to address the temperature control requirements of the selected hybrid vehicles, as well as the driving mode characteristics of the hybrid vehicles and the structure of the powertrain. Furthermore, in order to make sure that the designer thermal management system is able to make the battery pack, engine, and motor work within the safe temperature range, keep the temperature of the battery pack in different environmental conditions, and meanwhile satisfy the heat removal requirements of the vehicle components, a temperature control model is constructed based on the logic threshold value method and the fuzzy PID control method, and the control strategy is demonstrated in simulation with the help of MATLAB/Simulink. The results indicate that the designed thermal management control model can maintain the temperature of the power battery within the pre-set temperature range under different external ambient temperatures. The results of this study provide an essential reference for the design and application of thermal management systems for hybrid vehicles.
