A Low Profile Super Wideband Logarithmic Spiral Dielectric Resonator Antenna

This manuscript presents a first time reported logarithmic spiral dielectric resonator antenna (LS-DRA) which is a low-profile, compact, super-wide band and circularly polarized structure. The LS-DRA is fed by a $50 \Omega$ coasial probe and the entire structure has the dimensions $0.65 \lambda \times 0.433 \lambda \times 0.025 \lambda$ at the resonant frequency 2.5 GHz. The impedance bandwidth offered by the LS-DRA is 158.12 %(2.105-18 GHz) and the axial ratio bandwidth (ARBW) is 88.5 %(5.557-14.38 GHz). The average gain is 3 dBic throughout the operating bandwidth and the radiation efficiency is above 70 %.
