On the Performance of Two-Way Full-Duplex RIS-Aided Vehicular Networks Over Double Nakagami-m Fading Channels

This paper investigates the outage and ergodic capacity performance of two-way (TW) full-duplex (FD) vehicular communication systems empowered with a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). The bidirectional communication between two end user vehicles is established with the assistance of an RIS mounted vehicle having N passive reflective units. We deduce the novel tight analytical expressions for the overall outage probability (OOP), asymptotic outage probability and ergodic sum rate (ESR) by modeling vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) links as double Nakagami$- m$ fading while considering residual self-interference (SI). The presented numerical and simulation results verify our derived analytical findings, and demonstrate the impact of different system and channel parameters on the system’s OOP and ESR performance.
