Cyber-Physical System Design for Resilient and Interoperable Energy Storage Management in Smart Grids

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) have emerged as a quintessential bridge between computational and physical components, playing an indispensable role in modern power systems, notably in the realm of smart grids. This research delves into the intricate design of CPS tailored for resilient and interoperable energy storage management in smart grids. With the increasing complexity and interconnectivity of energy storage systems (ESS), there is a pressing demand for approaches that enhance resilience against both cyber and physical threats, while also ensuring seamless interoperability among heterogeneous ESS. Leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms and robust control theory, this study introduces a novel CPS framework that promotes adaptability, fault tolerance, and real-time decision-making. Simulation results, based on a prototypical urban smart grid model, showcase the efficacy of the proposed CPS design in mitigating adverse impacts of potential disturbances and orchestrating harmonious interactions among disparate ESS. The findings pave the way for a more secure, efficient, and responsive energy landscape, harnessing the strengths of both cyber and physical realms to meet the evolving challenges of modern power systems.
