Data-driven Insights into Snake-bite Incidents: A Visual Analysis Approach

As per World Health Organisation Report, more than one lakh people die yearly from snake bites. Many people survive the snake bite affected by partial or complete disability. India snake-bite data shows more than 1.2 billion deaths estimated between the period 2000 to 2019. The probability of snake-bite is likely to be more in rural areas. Awareness of the snake-bite management guidelines can lead to a reduction in snake-bite cases. Timely treatment of the victim can significantly reduce the death rate due to snake-bite circumstances. Snakebite is one of the issues in human-wildlife conflict. People tend to kill the snake out of fear without trying to verify whether the snake is venomous or non-venomous. The research paper aims to study the patterns of snake-bite cases reported in different states in India. This analysis can give insights into the demand for anti-snake venom in various states in India. The methodology adopted is exploratory research using secondary data available on India Stat for snake bite cases between the period 2012-2021 in 35 states and territories in India. The researcher has done the pattern analysis in snake-bite cases using computer tools and techniques like Python Programming and Tableau Desktop.
