Semiconductor Sankalp: A Vision for India's Tech Dominance

The Indian government with an aim to improve the nation's standing in the manufacture of semiconductors in an effort to mirror success achieved in other technology sectors. With a young and growing population, India has to expand from its small high-technology base and develop manufacturing jobs in promising areas. In this sense, semiconductors are fundamental. The interconnected linkage between semiconductor innovation and various micro- and nano-devices, non-conventional energy production, telephony, and storage makes it a fundamental area to focus. Semiconductors are crucial components in electronic devices used in a variety of industries, including clean energy, defense, communication, computing, healthcare, and defense-related devices. In significant developing technologies like quantum computing and artificial intelligence, semiconductors are also essential components. Since end-use sectors and many others all require computing in some capacity, there is a rising demand for semiconductors. There will be a significant increase in demand for semiconductors due to the proposed 5G roll-out in India, the deployment of edge computing cloud networks, and the extension of network coverage. This research work explains the focus the Government has laid on the development of infrastructure for semiconductor production and applied research. This augurs well for the competent human resources in India.
