Shopping is a fundamental activity in our daily routines. For many, the prospect of standing in long lines to pay for their selections is not only inconvenient but also time-consuming and potentially error-prone, with the possibility of billing errors. Supermarket and grocery store trolleys have been designed to enhance the shopping experience, but they can be cumbersome to maneuver while browsing. To address this, the concept of an autonomous trolley that follows the shopper is introduced. The primary goal of this innovation is to streamline the shopping process by developing a smart trolley that automatically trails the shopper by tracking a unique tag carried by the customer, which communicates with the trolley via Wi-Fi. Additionally, this trolley employs a person-tracking camera positioned at the front to ensure it stays with the correct shopper. It further enhances the shopping experience by tallying the total price of the items placed within it. This technological advancement eases the customer's burden of managing the trolley, as it is designed to recognize and follow the shopper with the associated tag.
