Single and Dual Horn SIW Radiators for High Speed Vehicular Communication

High speed vehicular communication requires high data rate and high capacity antennas for the mmW 5G applications. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antennas have high data rates and high capacity. When substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology is combined with the MIMO antennas penetration losses and reliability issues can be minimized in high speed vehicles like high-speed trains, airplanes, satellites, and in underground moving vehicles. The proposed design consists of single and dual H-plane horns on multilayer substrates Rogers RT5880 and Rogers RO3003 of sizes $56.32 \times 35.06$ square meter and $56.74 \times 34.72$ square meter. The single horn MIMO radiator covers a wide band of 26.36-35.32 GHz (Bandwidth = 8.96 GHz), has radiation efficiency in the range 95.82%-97.93%, and gain in the range 6.7 – 9.15 dBi. The dual horn MIMO radiator covers a wide band of 26.63-35.32 GHz frequency range (Bandwidth $=8.69$ GHz), has radiation efficiency in range 96.10%-97.90%, and 6.94-8.93 dBi gain in the whole $2:1$ voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) band. The envelope correlation coefficient in both the radiators lies in the range 0-0.0012.
