Performance Investigation of Phased Array Scan Radar System for Multi-Target Detection

The constraints of existing radar systems can be overcome through the utilization of a phased array scan radar system that can detect several moving targets by estimating their ranges, angles, and speeds. This paper provides the concept of a uniform linear array (ULA)-based phased array scan radar system and this research presents the concept. The process of multi-target detection is accomplished with the help of 16-element ULA antenna scanning from −34° to +34° which can provide better performance to the proposed radar system. With a view to investigating the performance of the proposed system, two moving targets are assumed to be detected within the surveillance area with their ranges, angles, and speeds by varying all the radar and target parameters. Experimentally, the proposed radar system shows an accuracy of 98.66% in range estimation, 92.13% in angle estimation, and 98.61% in speed estimation which can be considered a splendid performance in detecting the two moving targets with their ranges, angles, and speeds as compared to the existing systems.
