SSADV-Hop: Node Localization Approach in WSNs using a SSA based DV-Hop Range Free Method

This work addresses the node localization issue in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) by employing swarm-based algorithms and a range-free methodology. Determining the sensor node locations is one of the challenging tasks while dealing with WSNs. Range-based and Range-free approaches are used for distance measurement between sensor nodes. Range-free methods are more straightforward and don’t require any extra hardware compared to Range-Based methods. The most popular DV(Distance Vector)-Hop range-free method is used for distance measurement. The Salp Swarm Algorithm (SSA) is utilized to locate the unknown nodes because of its more straightforward behavior. The PSODV-Hop and DV-Hop-based approaches of node localization in WSNs are compared with the proposed SSADV-Hop approach’s solution using MATLAB simulation.
