Evaluation and Analysis of Prototype Filters for 5G FBMC System

In the context of 5G wireless communication systsem, there is a recurring proposition to employ filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) as a notable technology. The spectrum well-localization of the offset quadrature amplitude(OQAM) FBMC modulation is evaluated in time and frequency domains. However, high peak to average power ratio (PAPR), power spectral density (PSD) leakage, and incompatibility with multi input multi output (MIMO) are the limitation of FBMC. Numerous prototype filters have been devised for the purpose of modifying the PSD function of multicarrier signals, primarily to minimize the out-of-band (OoB) emissions signiciantly associated with them. This study undertakes the theoretical examination of the PSD of the FBMC transmitted signal employing diverse prototype filters. Several prototype pulse shapers, including the rectangular, raised cosine pulse (RC), PHYsical layer for DYnamic spectrum AccesS and cognitive radio (PHYDYAS), and Hermite, are considered. In FBMC/OQAM, each of the pulse shaping filter’s theoretical PSD performance is evaluated and compared.
