Blockchain technology in the Greek Supply Chain sector: An empirical examination of adoption patterns

This paper explores the implementation of blockchain technology within the Greek supply chain sector, delineating both its potential advantages and accompanying challenges. A quantitative survey was executed, collecting data from participants engaged in the Greek supply chain sector via structured questionnaires. Through non-parametric tests, it was revealed that certain "independent" variables exert a significant influence on the perceived benefits and challenges associated with the adoption of blockchain technology in the Greek logistics sector. For example, long-standing companies in the sector experience technological, organizational, and financial challenges, often stemming from adapting to new technologies or deep-rooted processes. However, these businesses, especially those larger in scale or advanced in blockchain integration, also see significant benefits from the technology. The findings lay the groundwork for future research, which may include comparative studies examining the impact of blockchain technology across distinct sectors such as supply chain and retail.
