Reduction of Frequent Link Disconnection Problem for Reliable Connection in Internet of Vehicles (IoV)

Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) represent a novel wireless technology wherein mobile vehicles function as nodes, establishing a dynamic network while in motion at varying velocities. However, the rapid changes in topology present serious challenges, with Frequent Link Disconnection being a major problem. Despite various routing protocols designed for VANETs, finding an efficient and effective solution that addresses all aspects remains problematic. This paper suggests a Regularized Zone-based Routing Protocol (RZRP) as an improvement to the Zone Routing Protocol to address these problems. The main objective is to provide connection reliability in applications for the Internet of Vehicles (IoV). RZRP reduces the amount of network overhead and reaction times by finding stable routes with the use of a QoS algorithm that considered speed, destination, and delay. The protocol also considers vehicle speed and direction to avoid link disconnection due to barriers. Incorporating an empirical Information-based Clustering Algorithm within the zone, RZRP maintains the cluster structure while meeting quality of service requirements as the network evolves. The protocol's experimental validation will be carried out by using several criteria, and found that it attains 26% of routing overhead, 98% of packet delivery ratio,11% of link failures and 21% of average end to end delay.
