Distribution System Energy Management and Power Quality Improvement by Joint Optimization Procedure

Distribution system is the fundamental connections that link a utility with its many customers. One of the simplest and most efficient methods for decreasing power loss is restructuring distribution networks. The optimization through reconfiguration has been further improved by integrating capacitor placement as referred as joint optimization procédure. As more and more consumers use non-linear loads, distribution networks are more subjected to harmonic distortion. This could result in significant levels of distortion. Power quality limitations are one of the many different working requirements that are included with the primary goal. Their inclusion is done with the intention of reducing the level of distortion. The primary objective is to cut down on the costs associated with power loss in the distribution system while still adhering to the prescribed levels of power flow, operational efficiency, and power quality. The multi-indicator Stochastic Ranking Algorithm (SRA) is utilised in order to achieve the desired levels of joint optimization procedure. The simultaneous reconfiguration and ideal capacitor placement are handled by SRA. The distribution system's current harmonics are evaluated using the Harmonic Load Flow (HLF). The harmonics are identified and optimised with the help of the HLF in the proposed SRA. The joint optimization procedure through SRA technique that has been proposed is validated with 33 bus IEEE system.
