A Standalone DC Microgrid With Photovoltaics and Power Management Using a Modified Perturb and Observe Technique

The standalone DC microgrid (SDCMG) can be utilized for various purposes and specific requirements, such as remote areas out of the grid or even places suffering from the unstable grid all their need supporting local of SDCMG, stability voltage, simple control with absent reactive power issues, and utilized to enhance the percentage of green energy penetration to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. For these distinct merits, the SDCMG is an essential option, with more attraction and significant attention nowadays. the paper focused on photovoltaic (PV), and power management to contribute aforementioned benefits, the (PV) solar system is connected through a boost converter to guarantee the system desired output voltage, in addition to the battery storage system (BSS) applied; to regulate charging/discharging. The PV, incorporating the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) and BSS are considered in SDCMG operation. All these features of SDCMG performance were investigated using various irradiance sources by utilizing the perturb and observe (P and O) algorithm technique to achieve the resiliency, and desired stability voltage of the SDCMG and it is verified and validation by using MATLAB Simulink.
