Allocation and Performance Assessment of Dispatchable Distributed Generators with Multi-objective Planning Criteria

Optimum allocation and sizing of Distributed generation (DG) play a vital role in solving many power distribution system problems such as power loss, voltage deviation, pollution emission, costs, etc. This paper proposes a multi-objective optimization problem to find the optimal positioning and sizing of DG types in distribution systems. The multi-objective function includes the minimization of total apparent power losses, voltage deviation index, the installation cost of DG, and pollution emission index. An intricate optimization problem involving multiple objectives has been created using a Backward/Forward Sweep load flow algorithm. To solve this problem, an adaptive weighted aggregation approach using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique was employed. The effectiveness of the suggested method was assessed by applying it to an IEEE 33 bus radial distribution network, and the obtained results were thoroughly analyzed.
