IoT-Based Home Energy Management System to Minimize Energy Consumption Cost in Peak Demand Hours

This paper presents an innovative smart energy management system that makes use of IoT technologies. The system model allows for real-time monitoring, remote control, and cost analysis of electrical appliances, to improve energy efficiency and user convenience. Our work is distinguished by its innovative and practical approach, which provides a unique solution that tackles several facets of appliance management. Users obtain the opportunity to remotely monitor and operate the devices by combining hardware implementation with software integration, optimizing energy consumption and saving costs. To implement energy conservation, the system provides automated load scheduling with proactive user notifications. This research adds value to the development of smart energy management by providing the demand side management and demand response for sustainable energy consumption. This energy management is a seamless synergy of hardware, software, and IoT technologies demonstrating its potential to revolutionize residential energy management. It helps users make informed decisions about energy usage by providing a user-friendly interface and actionable insights aligned with global sustainability goals. Results show the reduction in daily load consumption without and with the optimization. The initiative not only demonstrates a practical application of energy-efficient living, but it also has potential for broader applications in smart home automation and energy-conscious lives.
