Dimension Dependent Optical Behavior of GaN Across 0D, 1D, 2D and 3D Structures

This study distinguishes itself by conducting a comparative analysis of GaN’s optical characteristics across different dimensions, namely 0D, 1D, 2D and 3D. The primary objective is to uncover variations in reflectance, transmittance and absorptance among these dimensions. In the case of 0D structures, ranging from 2 nm by 2 nm to 6 nm by 6 nm, this research identifies that a diameter and length of 5 nm by 5 nm exhibit the highest reflectance. Absorptance displays a dual behavior, with the 2 nm by 2 nm structure dominating wavelengths less than 250 nm , while the 5 nm by 5 nm structure takes precedence beyond 250 nm. However, among 1D structures, a 50 nm long nanowire demonstrates the highest reflectance at 400 nm, surpassing coalesced nanowires of lengths ranging from 100 to 300 nm. Concerning absorptance, a distinctive peak emerges around 380 nm, with the 300 nm long nanowire’s dominance. The 2D structure unveils strong transmittance due to its thin layer thickness, whereas in the 3D configuration, absorptance and reflectance exhibit a dynamic interplay reminiscent of a thief-police relationship.
