Computationally Efficient Blockchain-based Privacy Preservation Approach for Internet of Vehicle Things

While studies have shown that Cluster-based Medium Access Control (CB-MAC) protocols are useful for administering and regulating Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs), these protocols need to be supplemented with a more secure and private authentication approach. Therefore, we propose a solution, named BPP-IoVT, to safeguard user privacy while using IoVT devices in transit. The paper explains in depth the processes involved in setting up authentication hubs, registering vehicles, and producing keys. To facilitate rapid handoff between vehicle sub-clusters, the proposed architecture utilizes a global authentication center (GAC) to store all vehicle data and a local authentication center (LAC) to administer a block chain. We also suggest a new control packet format based on the IEEE 802.11 standards to solve the issues with the current MAC protocols. In addition, methods for forming clusters, selecting members and a cluster leader, and merging and departing clusters are built with both safety and non-safety message delivery in mind. Through extensive trials, we demonstrate that the suggested BPP-IoVT technique saves both time and space in comparison to the state-of-the-art approaches. Numerical evaluations further reveal that the proposed BPP-IoVT protocols have superior throughput, latency, and packet-dropping rates compared to both standard MAC and benchmark approaches.
