Rule-based Approach for Air Quality Monitoring System with Internet of Things

Air pollution that continues to increase can cause several health problems, one of which is respiratory problems. Some of the air pollutants that are often found include particles or dust, carbon monoxide (CO), sodium dioxide (NO
2
). Even though at certain times humans can feel whether the air around them is good or not by using their sense of smell, to do this continuously, humans are still limited by space and time. This study uses the Internet of things to conduct real-time monitoring and obtain data regarding indoor air quality. The sensors used are the MQ-7, MQ-135, and the GP2Y10101AU0F sensor which is a sensor in the microcontroller to detect 3 pollution parameters including CO,NO
2
, and dust contained in the air. The analog voltage obtained by the sensor is then processed by the microcontroller into CO, NO
2
, and dust data. Rule-based is used to categorize air quality into 5 categories, namely good, moderate, unhealthy, very unhealthy and dangerous.
