Mobile-Based Charity Application with the Implementation of Internet-of-Things (IoT) For the Need to Feed the Need (NGO)

Studies have been performed to gain a thorough understanding on the current issues of poverty in Malaysia and the common initiative taken by the community in helping the poor. With the numerous numbers of urban poverty population in Kuala Lumpur, The Need to Feed the Need (NFN) was established as Malaysian NGO body to help in the fight of urban poverty issue by handing out free necessities to the poverty plus with the help of volunteers. Currently, the NFN does have a limited channel to reach out the community to attract people on their good cause and has restricted time and venue to conduct their activities. Primary researches were initiated via interviews and surveys to investigate the NFN ways of handling the activities and identify the communities’ interest in helping the poor with NFN. Results and analysis have proven that the communities are still lacking of the awareness towards the situation of urban poverty and how the NFN and communities are agreed with the integration of mobile application and IoT technologies to improvise the NFN’s current business methods that could allow them to contribute to the urban poverty positively.
