Design and Implementation of Programmable Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter Using Proportional Integral Derivative Method

At this time, the use of DC (Direct Current) power supplies is very important for the industrial and educational world. Almost all electronic components use DC power supplies. Due to the use of this diverse DC power supply, a system is needed that is able to convert DC voltage from one quantity to another. DC-DC converter is a device that provides direct DC power generated through the conversion of input DC voltage into a lower or higher output DC voltage. In this study, a Programmable Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter using the PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) method is designed and implemented to make a DC to DC converter that has a fixed and stable output voltage even though the input voltage changes. The level of stability of the output voltage is based on the output voltage and current detected by the sensor then those sensor data are processed by the STM32F103C8T6 microcontroller. Then the microcontroller will determine the duty cycle to control the switching circuit and the output voltage will match the predetermined setpoint. This circuit can work at a maximum load of up to 10A. PID testing produces an output voltage that takes 1.88ms to reach the setpoint voltage with a Kp value of 0.08537, a Ki value of 5.33695, and a Kd value of 0.05143. The lowest efficiency is 83.21 % and the highest one is 99.86%.
