About a Mitigation Method of Conducted Electromagnetic Interference

The paper deals with a mitigation method of conducted electromagnetic interference, namely passive electrical filtering, and its measurement in accordance with the specific international standards, briefly presented in the introductory section. Next, in the second section the main paths of propagation of conducted interference are addressed. The third section is devoted to the types and structures of EMI filters with a special stress on mains EMI filters. The measurement methods of electrical passive filters insertion loss in common and differential mode are presented. A comparison with the results of the insertion loss measured using the matched impedance test and the approximate worst-case test methods, depicted in standards is depicted. From the paper one may conclude that the only possibility to validate EMI filters behavior is solely after their commissioning in the installations.
