Design and Analysis of Piezoelectric Aided Dispensing System for Fluid Droplet Generation

The demand for precise use of liquid dispensers has significantly increased in the past few decades. Liquid dispensers are known for their precision and speed, making them essential to meet the demands of various industries, including microelectronics, biomedical devices, and electronic packaging equipment. Fluid dispensing can be achieved through various methods. In this study, fluid dispensing using needle motion assisted by a piezoelectric actuator has been investigated. Different mechanisms for extending the range of piezoelectric actuator displacement, are compared. The bridge-type mechanism is selected and dimensionally optimized. Finally, the influence of various factors on the diameter of the fluid droplets through five experiments conducted with this device has been examined. This apparatus enables the production of droplets with diameters ranging from 3 to 0.5 millimeters, and the repeatability of droplet diameter using this setup was also investigated.
