A comprehensive review of watermarking system applied to medical imaging: techniques and trends

Digital medical images contain important patient health data, thus, any modification over an insecure transmission media could lead to a misdiagnosis. Therefore, their security is a primary requirement. The purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive overview of using watermarking for data security in medical imaging. Our work has been achieved by analyzing 36 selected papers explored from various digital libraries, based on specified watermarking components. The outcomes of the research are discussed, along with suggested recommendations and outlooks for further exploration.
