Adaptative Termination and Control Algorithm for Resonant Arrays Used in Inductive Wireless Power Transfer Systems for Vehicle Charging

This paper proposes the implementation of an adaptative termination impedance and respective control algorithm for resonant arrays, used in Inductive Wireless Power Transfer (IWPT) Systems for Vehicle Charging. The use of an adaptative termination impedance on the last cell of the array, significantly increases the amount of energy transferred between the transmitter array and the receiver as well as the efficiency of the transfer process. The proposed algorithm uses the value of the current on the first cell which is connected to the power source to estimate the position of the receiver in relation to the array, thus eliminating the need for additional position sensors.
