Exploring the Relationship Between Performance and Environmental Sustainability in Measurement Systems: A Preliminary Study

This work focuses on the investigation of the relationship between performance and environmental sustainability in measurement systems. Although it is widely recognized that the use of measurement systems is fundamental in various fields (ranging from healthcare to industry to entertainment), the assessment of the impact of the design and use of a measurement system on the environment is still an open issue. In order to address this aspect, in this work, a dedicated analysis is carried out with a two-fold aim: (i) to offer a methodology for evalu-ating measurement systems considering also their environmental impact, and (ii) to better understand how to continue improving the performance of measurement systems in a non-harmful way for the environment.
