Profiling the Causes of Vehicle Accidents to Prevent its Occurrence

Safety is an important matter to survive in one’s life. A traffic accident is an event that disrupts human safety. In order to save people’s lives, it is necessary to pay more attention to traffic accidents by analyzing their various causes. The accident rate in India is increasing day by day. So, this study aims to fulfill the objective of analysing the various aspects with responsible parameters of accidents and proposed a holistic method to find an overview of this problem after profiling different causes of accidents. Profiling is useful to prevent small mistakes from becoming big ones. In this paper mainly four causes of accidents i.e., Traffic, Road, Driver and Weather are considered for profiling. The parameters such as speed, acceleration, and fuel consumption are found to be included in multiple causes of the accident and the driver’s style can indirectly affect other factors. In this paper, one of the main factors i.e., driver behaviour was considered and three different machine learning algorithms were applied for profiling. The performance and accuracy of the algorithms are discussed and compared. This paper aims to help traffic management and drivers in the early prediction of accidents by classifying their causes.
