Analysis of Circulating Power in Triple Active Bridge Converter: Impact of SPS and DPS Control

The assessment of the standard Single-Phase Shift control (SPS) and the Dual-Phase Shift (DPS) control utilized for the Triple Active Bridge (TAB) converter is described in this work. TAB converters are becoming increasingly popular due to their high power density and flexible power flow control. The DPS control technique, which was previously only used on Dual-Active Bridge (DAB) converters and had promising results, is now applied to the TAB converter and the results are analyzed. The comparison focuses on several key factors including peak reactive power or circulating power, the settling value of reactive power, and the impact of reference current changes on the system performance. The results showed that the DPS-controlled TAB converter had lower reactive power than the TAB converter with SPS control. This research provides valuable insights for improving DC-DC conversion systems’ efficiency and effectiveness by implementing the TAB converter’s DPS control scheme.
