A Real-time design and analysis of Dual Active Bridge DC-DC converter for EV applications

Dual Active Bridge(DAB) DC-DC converter gained popularity in EV applications in recent times. It has special features like providing isolation, high efficiency, inherent ZVS operation, Bi-directional power flow, etc. There are different phase shiftings of DAB converters such as Dual-phase-shifting(DPS), Extended Phase Shifting(EPS), and Triple Phase Shifting(TPS).In this paper, a simple control based on Single Phase Shifting(SPS) for DAB operation with the Current control method is proposed. In this, a detailed discussion regarding the generation of PWM pulses, ADC operation, Phase shifting control, and closed-loop operation of DAB in real-time by using TMS320f28379d is done. Further a detailed analytical design for the high-frequency transformers and Leakage inductors. To validate the same, the simulations verify DAB converter sps operation. Experimental results are taken by using a 2KW prototype.
