Plantar warts are thick, hardened layers of skin that irritate while walking. The ancient treatment of plantar warts involves using a particular range of temperatures for the thermal energy passed through the hardened tissue. Treating corns and calluses involves addressing increased mechanical stress rather than actual skin disease. Pain often arises due to pressure on nerve endings beneath the keratin plug.
