A Novel Controllers for Direct Torque Control of Induction Motor

Induction motors especially five phase motors are using in many industrial purpose on various applications. Especially these motor drives with an efficient control method are more suitable for electric vehicles, propulsion, water lifting purposes, high compressor models etc. Due to its ease of use and unique features, the direct torque control (DTC) method of the induction motor receives a lot of academic attention. However, ripples in the torque by applying DTC needs to be reduce further to use in electric vehicles. Conventional controllers such as PI controllers are unable to produce smooth output during rapid changes in the system, hence Takagi Suguno Kang-Fuzzy (TSK-Fuzzy) controllers are used while designing DTC of induction motor in this paper. Five phase induction motors are having special benefits as compared with three phase motors for special applications. TSK-Fuzzy controllers can be able to provide fastest response during rapid changes than conventional PI controllers. Consequently, DTC of a five phase induction motor is suggested in this study with the aid of two TSK-Fuzzy controllers. Additionally, digital pulses are generated using a space vector modulation technique to control the motor using a five phase inverter. A modified DTC by considering flux control is included in this paper. Responses of the proposed method of 5 phase drive is compare with three phase motor drive under various operating conditions. Various results are included and analyzed by using MATLAB/Simulink package in this paper.
