Assessment of Transient Stability Constrained DATC in Wind Integrated Deregulated Power System using Iterative Approach

Deregulated power supply is taken over power distribution to regulate the electricity demand worldwide. In the context of a deregulated setting, accurately determining the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) within a transmission system emerges as a significant challenge. The evaluation of ATC is restricted by the stability constraints inherent in the system. Estimation of ATC with dynamic stability limit is indicated as dynamic ATC (DATC). In this work, the transient stability limit, incorporated with dynamic instability is an aforethought constraint to compute DATC. Transmission Stability Index (TSI) is calculated to identify the most contingency line. Reckoning of Transient stability constrained DATC (TSDATC) is attained by Iterative Transient Stability Approach (ITSA). The outlined method is utilized to estimate Dynamic ATC for multilateral transactions. This method has been put in to practice and evaluated in New England 10 machine 39 -bus system. Subsequently, the approach was expanded to encompass a deregulated power network integrated with a wind generator employing variable-speed technology, centered around a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). The test results have demonstrated that the TSDATC is lower in comparison to scenarios where wind generators are not present. These findings indicate that wind power operations become increasingly vulnerable to TSDATC, rendering the system less robust in the presence of fault conditions.
