Comparative Energy & Hardware Analysis on Implementation of Full Subtractor Using Different FPGAs Families

There are major energy challenges in several developing countries. The development of an effective Full subtractor using the Vivado software platform and multiple generations of FPGAs has contributed to the advancement of environmentally aware communication. Many different families of FPGAs were analyzed to accomplish this goal. Genesys, Kintex, and Artix series boards of FPGAs are used. Studies were conducted to determine which FPGA family required the least amount of electricity overall. Genesys uses 1.065 W, Kintex uses 1.154 W, and Artix uses 1.034 W of electricity respectively. The temperatures on Genesys and Artix are at 58.1 degrees Celsius, but Kintex is at 73.4 degrees Celsius. Following the guidelines for using the Genesys family of 7 series of components instead of the other two families will help reduce the amount of power lost due to dissipation. The power efficiency of Artix is comparable to that of other FPGA families. Artix Boards outperform both the Genesys and Kintex boards in terms of energy efficiency, cost, size, and performance.
