Investigate the IoT Devices Used in Smart Cities and Assess what Kind of Data They Collect

Internet of Things (IoT) would become capable in connecting to a large spectrum of heterogenous and homogenous end systems with transparency and flawless ease while simultaneously providing open access to an assorted group subsets of data for the development of wide range digital services. As a result, developing a general all-purpose architecture for IoT is a complex challenge, mainly due to the fact that such a system may encompass a very diverse array of devices, connection layer technologies, and services. Although an urban IoT system is still a relatively broad category, it is highlighted in this article because to its relevant to the specific application domain. Urban IoTs are actually created to support the idea of “Smart City,” whose objective is to use advanced communication technologies to offer value-added services for both the municipal administration and the citizens. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the technologies, protocols, and architectural designs for an urban IoT. It would also go over various technology strategies and best-practice guidelines utilized in the Padova Smart City project, a proof-of-concept installation of an IoT island that was carried out in collaboration with the local administration in the Italia city of Padova.
