Smart Dustbin Model for WasteManagement

Growth of population in our country has rapidly increased the wastage which resulted in increase of garbage causing environmental issues. Dustbin is a container which collects garbage or stores items which are recyclable or non-recyclable, decomposable and non- decomposable. The complications caused by the mix-up of waste which is difficult for workers to segregate is the cause of this project. Optimizing the process of trash collection is the purpose of the smart solutions provided by this project. The objective of this project is to design an IoT Based Smart Dustbin which takes care of waste segregation, odor control, garbage level detection in order to keep our environment clean. We are designing a smart dustbin using Arduino, built with ultrasonic sensors on the dustbin to go contactless, built with metal proximity sensor and humidity sensor for waste identification and MQ135 for odor detection, ultrasonic sensors to notify the level of garbage in the dustbin. After the waste identification, the garbage passes into respective dry, metal and wet bins. The odor detected is suppressed by activating the anti-odor spray installed in prior. The notification of the garbage level which is generated by the blynk software assists the corresponding Municipality authorities to clear the garbage as soon as possible keeping the surroundings of the smart dustbin neat and tidy.
