Renewable and Distributed Gas-Turbine Power Generations Toward Energy Transition in Vietnam

This paper presents the proposal solutions for renewable energy and distributed gas-turbine generations toward energy transition in Vietnam. Photovoltaic and wind power generations are analyzed to make details about the variation of power in a very short time, depending on natural operating conditions. Moreover, the capability to respond to the peak or bottoms of the load diagrams is also analyzed with the gas-turbine generations, proving the disadvantages of renewable power generations are surmounted. By using a distribution system grid similar to theirs in Vietnam, and above distributed generations, some different operating modes are simulated, evaluated, and analyzed. Using ETAP software, simulation results show that the photovoltaic, wind, and gas-turbine generations can reduce the power demand from power systems, of traditional hydro and thermal sources, even in isolated mode or island mode or by making a new loop for the distribution grid. Received results of this study prove the ability to restructure power sources from traditional generations to renewable and gas-turbine generators, that will operate by the mode of flexible distribution system toward energy transition.
