An Enhanced Handover Decision-Making Algorithm for 5G Heterogeneous Networks

This paper investigates the topic of handover decision-making in 5G Heterogeneous Networks (HetNets) and proposes an innovative solution to address the limitations of existing approaches. The importance of seamless handover in managing and securing the heterogeneous 5G network architecture will be explored, considering its significant impact on wireless communication performance. This paper proposes an enhanced handover decision-making algorithm by integrating Support Vector Machine (SVM) and fuzzy logic. The proposed SVM-Fuzzy approach was designed to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of handover decision-making while reducing signalling overhead, latency, and packet loss. Moreover, the proposed solution prioritizes security in HetNets during the handover process using the SVM. Computer simulations will be conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed SVM-Fuzzy approach. A comparative analysis will be conducted against existing methods to validate the superiority of the proposed solution. In the future, we will present the findings that will contribute practical insights for network operators and researchers, assisting in the selection of appropriate handover techniques based on the network's requirements, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness.
