New Equivalent Circuit of Rectangular Dumbbell-Shaped Defected Ground Structure with Ideal Transformer

A new equivalent circuit of a rectangular Dumbbell-shaped Defected Ground Structure (DGS) in parallel with a resistor. The design consists of a resistor (R

) soldered in parallel with the DGS unit in the ground plane. The parameters of the proposed circuit are derived by applying the R

into ideal transformer circuit has parallel resistance (R), inductance(L), and capacitance (C) as the properties. The result shows the greater accuracy of circuit to EM simulation if compared with other similar work. To confirm the validity of equivalent circuit, various simulation results from EM simulation are done to shows excellent agreement of the DGS unit in parallel with R
eq
with corresponding to the proposed equivalent circuit.
