A Millimeter Wave Fuze TX/RX Antenna Pair with Enhanced Coverage

T — In this paper, a new type of millimeter-wave wide-coverage antenna module for proximity fuze radar application is proposed. Different from the traditional design idea of wide-beam antenna, a single antenna with a wide beam coverage is designed. This paper realizes the complementary radiation pattern by stagger the maximum radiation direction of the receiving antenna and the transmitting antenna, so that the whole antenna module has excellent space coverage capability. The transmitting antenna and the receiving antenna are in the form of open waveguides, which are distributed on two sides of a curved dome, so as to achieve the maximum beam pointing on opposite direction. In the design case discussed here, the antenna module operates at 35 GHz, has an impedance bandwidth of more than 1 GHz, and has a smooth synthetic gain in the range of ± 630in H-plane and ±750in E-plane. In addition, the problem of worsening the isolation of transceiver antenna is analyzed. By increasing the decoupling gap, the isolation between the receiving and receiving antennas is effectively increased to 50 dB.
