Efficient Implementation of a 4x4 Enhanced Pipeline Multiplier Using Electric EDA Tool

In this study, we present the design and implementation of a highly efficient 4x4-bit folded pipeline multiplier. Leveraging advanced 22 nm CMOS technology and a modified hierarchical design approach, our multiplier achieves remarkable performance enhancements. Through the use of pipelining, it significantly reduces the critical path delay, enabling a three-fold increase in operational speed compared to conventional multipliers. Moreover, it consumes only 0.2 mW of power and reduces chip area consumption by over 20%. Our design overcomes the limitations of traditional methods, making it an efficient and rapid alternative for energy-efficient multiplication in digital hardware. We also explore strategies for enhancing this 4x4 multiplier and discuss power consumption optimization. The paper provides insights into the potential applications in microprocessors and digital signal processors.
